Current situation in Afghanistan:a request from the Afghan Women Judge Assistants
News of the IAJ
Hereinafter the text of a request of help from a group a Afghan female assistant judges:
“Hello respectable sir!
We are a group of female judicial interns seeking for asylum due to threats and dangers we are facing after the collapse of afghanistan government. As we are witness taliban regime has overtaken the whole country and people especially minorities and women are extremely endangered and in a valnurable situation. We interns were lately pursuing our practical lessons in courts under the guideance of court judges as a part of supreme court staffs. Although we meant to start our theoritical lessons first but due to the unsafe and unsecure situation and high threats to judical memebers, supreme court decided to preiotrize practical works to be first so that we dont had to gather in one place which was more likely to be risky. Authorities had clear reasons to do so. Becuase at the very first step when we were to take the entrance exam for judical stage which would prolong for two years consisting two theoritical and practical terms, taliban extremist did a suicide bomb attack on those who were willing to participate the written exam held in kabul university which killed several participants and enjoured many others. And not only this when another armed attak was done on kabul university legal center they claimed that we targeted those who were to become porsecuters, espicially judges. And it is not a hidden fact that who many judges have been assassinated by the extremists accross the country including a group of women judges that were killed in an attack in kabul on way to the court. And to mention due to all this, our lessons were already postponed for more than two years which made us lost alot of our time aswell. Beside these facts what makes it worst is that talibans consider judges and legal staff to be the enemies of them because they have implemented other law than shariah law. Breaking the prison and freeing criminals is a sign that they do not value a penny to the dicistion issued by judical system espically women which they consider as enforcers of non islamic laws. Taliban recently declared that we will not permit women to become judges and has put barriers and limits to their freedom and rights as well, making the environment more tough for them. In reaction of this unfair decision and act of taliban, a group of judical trainees especially womens, gathered and raised their voices for justice and to defend women rights but this decision backfired and on the contrary taliban threatened them to death and this made the situations more critical because they became known faces to taliban more easy to be identified and recognized.
In short now we along our family are highly endangered and living in hidouts.
Considring mentioned facts.
We want to get out of afghanistan to find a safe place for living and to make a future for ourselves.
Best Regards “
