UE Commission’s Letter to EAJ on the Problem of the Appointment of Judges in Croatia

In our web site we publish the reply by the First Vice-President of the European Commission, Mr Frans Timmermans, on behalf of the The President of the European Commission, Mr Jean-Claude Juncker, to the letter sent by EAJ President Mr Christophe Régnard to the Croatian Minister of Justice and to the Croatian President of the Parliament on the topic of the appointment of judges in Croatia. In this letter, the representative of the European Commission declares to take EAJ’s worries “very seriously,” assuring that it “will investigate the matter further, including the issue of effective judicial review of a decision to refuse an appointment of a candidate judge.”
