Prof. Margaret Satterthwaite, UN Special Rapporteur on the Independence of Judges and Lawyers, made a presentation during the first session of the IAJ Central Council, on 19th October, 2024, in Cape Town, presenting the activities of her office and addressing the challenges that currently threaten judicial independence in all the parts of the world. During her intervention the Presidents of the four IAJ Regional Groups submitted brief reports on the most delicate situations affecting the judiciaries in their respective continents.
