Solidarity with the Yemeni Judiciary for the assassination of Judge Mohsen Alwan

News of the IAJ

IAJ’s President and Secretary-General sent a solidarity message to the Yemeni Association of Judges for the assassination of judge Judge Mohsen Alwan and two of his children.

Judge Alwan, President of the specialized anti-terrorism criminal court, dealt with cases concerning al Qaeda, including the case of condemnation of the people accused of the bombing the US warship Cole and the prosecution of terrorists in the crime of bombing the French oil tanker, and other important issues. Southeast Sanaa court also suffered a bombing, which claimed the lives of many innocent people because of the failure to provide necessary protection for judges.

Yemeni Judges are asking for an international action and for the intervention of the UN Special Rapporteur on the Independence of Judges and Lawyers, in order to ensure a high level of protection of Judges and of the Judicial System in Yemen.
