IAJ Honorary President Christophe Régnard Speech in Vienna (Int.l Conference “STRENGTHENING OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF JUDICIAL INDEPENDENCE STANDARDS”)

On 22nd May 2019 an international conference was held in Vienna, at UN Headquarters, under the organisation of the UN Special Rapporteur on the Independence of Judges and Lawyers. Title of the conference was: “STRENGTHENING OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF JUDICIAL INDEPENDENCE STANDARDS”.

In this framework, IAJ Honorary President Christophe Régnard submitted an official speech, underlying the need for a revision and updating of the 1985 UN Basic Principles on the Independence of the Judiciary, in the light of the Universal Charter of the Judge, approved by IAJ in 2017 in Santiago de Chile.
