Online Meeting of the African Group

On Friday, 22nd January 2021, the African Group of the IAJ hold an online meeting under the presidency of the Group President, IAJ Vice President Mr Djamel Ajdouni. In attendance were, beside IAJ Secretary-General Mr Giacomo Oberto and IAJ Deputy Secretary-General Mr Raffale Gargiulo, representatives of seven African Associations: Algeria, Angola, Liberia, Morocco, Niger, Senegal, Tunisia. Also the current acting President of the IBA Group, Mr Walter Barone (Brazil) attended the meeting. The Group discussed several problems related to the safeguard of judicial independence in Africa. A new meeting will be held in March, also for the appointment of two representatives of the Group within the IAJ WG on the ordinary monitoring procedure.
